After years of possible plots, rumoured casting and shifting behind the scenes, the idea that Zoolander 2 will actually, properly hit screens has just hit its peak. Paramount has announced that the comedy sequel will hit screens – in the US, at least – on February 12 next year.

And what better way to announce the return of the really, really, ridiculously good-looking supermodel and his dim chums than by having Derek Zoolander himself – in the shape of Ben Stiller – and fellow poseur Hansel (Owen Wilson) hit the runway of the Valentino event at Paris Fashion Week? Sadly, David Bowie was unavailable to keep score this time, but hopefully he might be tempted to cameo in the new movie.

Not much is officially known about the sequel, although Stiller has said that it will focus on Derek and Hansel confronting the reality of a world that has moved on beyond them – with newer, younger, sexier models taking their place and a company looking to remove them from the business altogether.

With Justin Theroux (who co-wrote the film alongside Stiller) taking the director’s chair and Wilson, Christine Taylor and Penelope Cruz attached, the new Zoolander will partly film in Rome.
