**The Wolf Of Wall Street **became the Lion Of Leicester Square last night as Martin Scorsese's lurid new drugs-and-bonds opus got its UK premiere. Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays Jordan Belfort, the titular Wolf, drew predictably huge crowds, sharing his passion for a project that's proving controversial on the other side of the pond.

Adapted by Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire man Terence Winter from Belfort's memoir, the movie tracks the rise, fall, rise, fall, fall and rise again of Wall Street's most notorious figures. From Belfort's early days as a trainee broker to the coke-and-strippers heyday of his Stratton Oakmont firm, the pump-and-dump brokerage firm he sets up with Donnie Azoff (Hill), it's all packed into three glorious crazed hours of satirical lunacy.
According to Empire's review, it's "Scorsese's funniest and most focused film in a long time", and if that doesn't whet your appetite, the film's trailer may do the trick.
**The Wolf Of Wall Street **is in UK cinemas on January 17.brightcove.createExperiences();
