Though we’ve gotten looks at both Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe and Kenneth Branagh as Sir Laurence Olivier, now comes the first proper footage of both stars and the rest of the cast in action, as the trailer for My Week with Marilyn has arrived online. Check it out below.
My Week with Marilyn is based on the events that occurred when the famous – in some circles, infamous – blonde arrived in the UK to shoot Olivier’s The Prince and the Showgirl. As seen through the eyes of Olivier's assistant Colin Clarke (Eddie Redmayne) it was yet another dramatic time in Monroe’s life. The production was famously stormy: the actress was then married to playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott) and suffered a miscarriage during shooting; her weight fluctuated and her punctuality problems were even worse than normal.
The trailer also details Marilyn’s growing romance with Clarke, who came to her aid and ended up falling in love with her. But their whirlwind moment still wasn’t enough to stop her tragic self-destruction.
Featuring the likes of Julia Ormond, Dougray Scott, Emma Watson, Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi and Emma Watson, the film promises to show us another side of Monroe and a different chapter in her life. It’ll hit cinemas on November 18.
