Bond Breaks Records
The Casino Royale team are having a very, very good week indeed. As if three Empire Awards weren’t enough, you’ve given Bond another huge boost into the stratosphere by snapping up the Casino Royale DVD at lightening pace. The movie has now broken the record for the fastest week one UK DVD sales, selling a whopping 1,622,852 copies since its release on March 19. And if that doesn’t prove that 007 is well and truly back at the top of his game, then it’s time to borrow Jaws’ nashers and eat Oddjob’s hat.
Simpons Invade Shops
Just in case you’ve been somewhere other than earth for the last year, you’ll be pleased to hear that Springfield’s first family will be making their debut appearance on the big screen when The Simpsons Movie arrives in cinemas this summer. In preparation for the coming of Homer et al, the world's largest convenience store chain is set to get a full make-over of Simpsonian proportions. It seems 20th Century Fox are currently in talks with 7-Eleven to turn eleven of their outlets into Kwik-E-Marts – Springfield’s most hallowed (and pricey) of stores. This means that US customers will be able to buy the likes of Buzz Cola, Krusty O’s Cereal and, of course, iced Squishees. The likelihood of "Mmmm . . . sandwich" appearing on – wait for it – sandwiches, is also very high. We don’t have 7-Elevens in the UK. Doh!
Agents Re-Open X-Files?
The rumour mill turns once again. Today, it’s thrown up news about the long-mooted, feature-length return of Agents Mulder and Scully. Talking to Comingsoon, David Duchovny said another outing for the pair of truth-seeking agents “would be fun". He then added: "Actually I think they are talking about an X-Files movie this week. I'm not just saying that because it's serendipitous. I know Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz are in there this week with Fox talking about it." And Ms. Anderson? "Yeah, she'll do it. We'll all do it. We're all gung ho and we're just waiting. I guess there are things to figure out, and I guess people are talking about a strike. They're trying to get it done before things like this."
The last time we saw Mulder and Scully on screen, they were having a cuddle on a bed whilst discussing the truth in the final episode of the TV series entitled, unsurprisingly, The Truth. If a movie is in the pipeline, then they’d have to release it by 22 December 2012, otherwise, according to X-Files-lore, all the aliens will invade and rubbish everything up.
