If you’ve been watching the various teasers and trailers for Sacha Baron Cohen’s new comedy, The Dictator, chances are that you've developed a sense of the film already. But in an attempt to lure you further, the producers have now put the first couple of minutes of the movie online for your viewing pleasure. Take a look below.
**The Dictator **finds Baron Cohen as Admiral General Aladeen of the Republic of Wadiya, who journeys to America to speak at the UN and spread his anti-democracy message. But he gets more than he bargained for when the US government decides that there’s more than one way to deal with a despotic ruler than dropping smart bombs down his chimney like the world’s most destructive Father Christmas.
These quick intro scenes give more of the flavour we’ve gotten from the trailers, and even include a segment that has been used in all of them – namely, Aladeen’s distinctly fixed Olympic Games. But we do like the gag about him changing various words in the Wadiyan dictionary to “Aladeen”…
With Ben Kingsley, Anna Faris and John C Reilly among the cast and Larry Charles directing, the film arrives on May 18.
