Like a zombie, we’re edging ever closer to the airdate for Frank Darabont’s TV take on Robert Kirkman’s long-running comic book series The Walking Dead. Those lucky enough to see the fist footage at Comic-Con can attest that it looks fantastic, but now the trailer is officially online for everyone to enjoy.
In case you’re new to the whole Walking Dead concept, the story follows sheriff Rick Grimes who ends up in hospital after getting shot in the line of duty. When he wakes up, he discovers that the zombie apocalypse has befallen humanity and most people are now slavering, flesh-craving monsters.
Rick sets out determined to find out if his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and son are still alive. Arriving in Atlanta, he finds a group of survivors, but also more zombie trouble than anyone should have to deal with.
From the looks of this, US network AMC hasn’t skimped on the gore or the drama, and with Darabont involved, we’re naturally inclined to believe it’ll be great.
The show arrives on October 31 in the US. The good news is that FX will start to air it a few days later here in the UK.
UK readers can see the FX trailer below. Those in the US can head to AMC. There will be more on the show in a future issue of Empire.
