Last year, director Mike Flanagan broke through with his impressive latest film, an adaptation of his short scare pic Oculus. He’s back for more chilling times with Before I Wake, formerly known as Somnia, with Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane beginning to regret the new addition to their family. Check out the trailer below.

Before I Wake finds Bosworth and Jane as Jessie and Mike Hobson, who, following the loss of their own son, decide to adopt an orphan. It’s not long before Cody (Jacob Tremblay) is brought to their home and seems to settle in.
But – naturally, this being a horror film – there’s a problem. Unbeknownst to them, Cody’s terrified of falling asleep. It’s not because he has an odd snore or because he drools everywhere when he snoozes, it’s because when he’s asleep, his dreams manifest themselves in reality. Which is all well and good when his subconscious is bringing to life butterflies or even a tangible duplicate of their deceased child, but not so fun when his night terrors start to run rampant. Can they figure out the secret before it’s too late? You’ll have to watch to find out...
With Annabeth Gish, Dash Mihok, Jay Karnes, Kyla Deaver and Justin Gordon in the cast, Before I Wake will arrive in the US on May 8, but has yet to lock in a UK date.
