A two-film project focused on the life of notorious French gangster Jacques Mesrine has been stuck in development for ages. But now producer Thomas Langmann has given it the financial kiss of life, and attached Vincent Cassel to the lead.
The movies will be shot simultaneously in Canada and France starting next May, and will follow the wild life of Mesrine, who raided banks, kidnapped people and made it out of prison eight times before being shot dead in 1979.
Eva Green and Marion Cottillard are also signing on, playing two women who were both Mesrine's lover and partner in crime at different stages of his life. Jean-Francois Richet is the man charged with what sounds like a tough directing job.
