Vince Vaughn doesn't always make great movies – he hasn't been the lead in anything really good since Dodgeball in 2004 (some of you may say The Wedding Crashers, but we would retort with 'whatever' and some aggressive shushing, if necessary) – but he is always good in them (some of you may cite Be Cool as evidence to the contrary...and we'd have no leg to stand on). Universal is confident enough in the power of Vaughn's charisma to sign him to a two-year three-picture deal.
The deal is with Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show Productions and, at this stage, it's only possible that Vaughn will star in any or all of the following movies, which are currently scant on plot details.
The first is a currently in development movie called Male Doula, written by Dana Fox and based on a "high concept idea" of Vaughn's. There is no indication of what that idea is or how lofty its concept might be. But since a doula is a birth coach / midwife / nanny type, we're sure it would involve gender role-bending hilarity. Maybe.
Also under development is Realtors, which is American for estate agent and doesn't really sound like it should be a word, about a group of cutthroat house sellers, which has promise.
Most interesting sounding is a project scripted by Jon Favreau (who appears to be doing a great job on Iron Man, judging by Comic-Con footage) about couples who head to a retreat to reinvigorate their flagging marriages.
