Looks like it could be no more Mr. Nice Guy for Karl Urban, after the** Star Trek** and **Lord of the Rings **star today joined the cast of And Soon The Darkness, the remake of the little-known British psychological thriller from 1970.
Amber Heard, who will also co-produce, and Odette Yustman were first on board the movie, which tells the tale of two young American girls on a cycling holiday in Argentina. When one of them mysteriously disappears, the other suspects that she’s been abducted by the creepy locals – and if she isn’t found before nightfall, she may be lost forever.
There’s no official word on Urban’s role, but we’d be surprised if he wasn’t playing one of the potential suspects in the abduction. If so, it wouldn’t be the first time that the former Eomer (and current Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy) had dabbled in the dark side – he was the bad guy in both The Bourne Supremacy and The Chronicles Of Riddick, so he’s definitely got ‘sinister’ in his armoury.
Urban isn’t the only high-profile addition to the cast of Marcos Efron’s movie. Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza (she was nominated for Babel in 2006; no, we didn’t have to look that up, honest. Erm…) has also signed on.
The film is currently shooting on location in Argentina. Bagsy the set visit!
