Two New Posters For Ang Lee's Life Of Pi

Fans of Empire**'s poster analysis features will be well aware of the 'floating head' trope, but the latest two posters for Ang Lee's Life Of Pi go one better with not a human floating head... but a tiger's.

As anyone who's read Yann Martel's much-loved fantasy adventure will tell you, the name of said tiger is Richard Parker (so-called after a character in Edgar Allan Poe's 1838 nautical novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket) and he can talk. Rather eloquently, in fact.

Following on from the trailer released back at the end of July, the posters feel like a still shot from Lee's imagination let loose, all perfect sunsets and piercing eyes.

What's more, as well as a floating head, you also get a floating boat - which makes more sense, considering the film sees the lead, Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel (newcomer Suraj Sharma), forced to take 227-day journey in a lifeboat when his ship sinks in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It's a journey he shares with his feline friend... and some other characters besides.

For more details on Life Of Pi, be sure to pick up the latest issue of Empire, out on Thursday, August 30. L****ife Of Pi itself is out in the UK on September 21.
