Reality show in 140-characters

Twitter Planning A TV Series?

Here's a weird story: micro-blogging site Twitter is developing a TV show. Yes, the 140-character fad is prepping a reality show - and while we don't usually report on TV, this one's odd enough to have caught our attention.

The plan is to make a show that "puts ordinary people on the trail of celebrities in a revolutionary competitive format." It's meant to capture Twitter's immediacy with, we're assuming, contestants trying to track down celebrities based on the latter's tweets. We just hope they're voluntarily involved and that this doesn't turn into a gawker sort of thing.

Reveille and Brillstein Entertainment are producing, with among others novelist Amy Ephron (yes, Nora's sister) who came up with the concept. So what do we think? Cross-platforming gone mad, or the logical next step?
