That Twilight New Moon Party...

Several of the Empire staff headed over to The Twilight Saga: New Moon party last night to experience Twi-mania in full flow, as the stars - Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner - and director Chris Weitz walked the red carpet in Battersea Park to the huge party that replaced the traditional premiere.

Since the film is under wraps until November 17, guests were instead treated to a 40 minute Q&A with the filmmakers, performances by three bands and clips from the film, all accompanied by the sort of shrieking generally associated with schoolbuses plunging over a cliff.

The Q&A didn't reveal any great secrets about the film, except perhaps that the three stars are more articulate than they're often given credit for. When asked how he got out of character after a long day's filming, for example, Pattinson simply replied, "I take my make-up off" - to rapturous screams of delight from the fans attending.

Alongside all of this were hordes of fans bagging free tops and downing huge quantities of the canapés, which included quite a few that required nibblers to inject red tomato sauce or berry puree into their food. And then they came very close to trashing the place on their way out in the rush to secure posters and decorations from the event.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is out on November 20, so check back on Empire next week and we'll have video interviews with all the cast to give you the lowdown on New Moon and beyond.
