Key Voter Costner
The last time we saw Kevin Costner he was teaching Ashton Kutcher the ways of the ocean in large waves/large rescue movie The Guardian. He’s set to return to our screens later this year as part-time murderer Mr. Earl Brooks, in the surprisingly titled **Mr. Brooks. **Now, news has flown in that Shooter scriptwriter Joshua Michael Stern, has nabbed the actor to star in his new indie election comedy, **Swing Vote. Variety **reports that movie is based around a single father, whose vote will decide the outcome of the next Presidential election. Filming is due to begin in July. Meanwhile, Costner is likely to have his hands full at home as it was announced today that he’s just become a father for the fifth time.
Mexican Trio Join Forces
What do Pan’s Labyrinth, Children Of Men and Babel all have in common? That’s right – they’re all terrific. But wait – look a little closer and you’ll see all three movies are directed by the members of the sacred Mexican triumvirate, made up of Gulliermo Del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu. Now, the L.A Times has reported that having taken Hollywood by storm with their 2006 successes, the trio are approaching studios with an “all-or-nothing, five-picture deal,” worth $100 million. Two Spanish language films are likely to be included in the selection.
Common Is Wanted
Having raised his acting game a few notches as Sir Ivy in Joe Carnahan’s smoking Smokin' Aces, rapper-turned-actor Common is to take a further leap into the world of weaponry and hi-octane action, as The Gunsmith in the Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy comic book flick **Wanted. **MTV gleaned this from the man they sometimes call Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr: "I'm basically this dude that's a master at shooting guns. I'm training this gentleman that's coming in, who really has certain abilities but doesn't know it; I'm training him on how to be what he should be." That ‘gentlemen’ could well be McAvoy’s Wesley Gibson – a confused young man who’s thrust into a dark world populated by a curious array of supervillains. Wanted is based on the Top Cow comic by Mark Millar and J.G Jones and is set for release next Spring. Nightwatch/Daywatch’sTimur Bekmambetov is helming the project.
