Season two of True Detective has been shooting for a while now and HBO has enough footage to assemble this first look teaser, which shows off the look and feel of the new season.
The setting this time is the Californian industrial city of Vinci, home to various characters including Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell), a compromised detective, Vince Vaughn’s Frank Semyon, a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his life’s work, while his wife and closest ally (Kelly Reilly), struggles with his choices and her own, with Rachel McAdams as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County sheriff’s detective often at odds with the system she serves and Taylor Kitsch playing Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and motorcycle cop with the California Highway Patrol (CHiPs, fact fans).
The latter stumbles upon a crime scene that triggers a massive investigation drawing in three law enforcement groups, a swathe of criminals and billions of dollars. And from the looks of it, this isn’t going to be easy for any of them, though Vaughn, McAdams and Kitsch might really just be annoyed with how only Colin Farrell got a portrait-style photo in the official image set so far.
True Detective’s second season, once more written by creator Nic Pizzolatto, will hit HBO on June 21, and will likely show up soon after on Sky Atlantic here.
