Bobcat Goldthwait's **Willow Creek **was released not long ago, but should your appetite for found-footage Bigfoot movies not yet have been sated, here comes another one. Exists is the latest work of The Blair Witch Project's Eduardo Sanchez, and a new trailer has just arrived.
Anyone who caught Exists at FrightFest over the weekend will notice that the first 30 seconds or so of that clip isn't actually in the finished film. So that's one for the next round of Trailer Cheats. But otherwise it's a decent primer for a film that starts off in pretty conventional cabin-in-the-woods territory but quickly gets far more intense and interesting.
"I’ve wanted to make a Bigfoot movie since I was a little kid," Sanchez told **Empire just after the release of his excellent Lovely Molly. "I’ve always been curious about the way Bigfoot has kind of turned into a comic character now. For my generation Bigfoot was a horrible, really scary creature: this thing lurking in the woods. So I’m trying to bring that back. I’ve actually written three Bigfoot scripts, and I have an idea for a fourth, so this is planned as the first of four parts. There is a historical context to the later ones, but this one is just a very simple story: I just wanted to make it as efficient as possible."
Job done, although whether the other three instalments ever materialise remains to be seen. Exists, as we mentioned, played at FrightFest last Friday, but doesn't have a more general release date in the UK yet. It's out in the US on October 24.
