This will probably not amaze you, but Toy Story 3 has overtaken Shrek 2 at the worldwide box office to become the biggest animated film of all time, wtih $940m to date. It's now got a very real shot at sneaking into the billion dollar club, and looks set to overtake Shrek 2 in the US domestic charts in the near future as well.

Even in the US, however, the film is doing well: it's only the second Disney film ever to pass $400m at the US box office, after Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and is currently at number 11 on the all-time list there. It'd need another $43m to overtake Shrek 2 there and take the 5th spot on the list, but while that might be a stretch, it's a sure-thing to overtake Spider-Man and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and end the summer comfortably inside the top ten there.

Worldwide, the film's already at number 9 on the all-time list, and it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that it could overtake At World's End and reach a little higher.

Of course, box office isn't the be-all and end-all for a film as ginormously brilliant as this one, but it's nice to see the good guys get ahead all the same.
