Alfonso Gomez-Rejon's The Town That Dreaded Sundown provides some classic scares, so it's fitting that this new one-sheet has employed a classic poster artist. Graham Humphreys, justly lauded for his Nightmare On Elm Street, Evil Dead and FrightFest work, has composed this beautiful old-school image for the film. We've also got some work-in-progress shots.
Nominally a remake of Charles B. Pierce's 1976 slasher, Gomez-Rejon's film is actually a bit more interesting than that. The new version takes place in a world where the previous film exists and everyone has seen it. Gomez-Rejon wanted to explore the notion of a town that suffered a real-life horror and then came to be defined by a movie version. You can read his thoughts in more detail in Empire**'s interview here.
The Town That Dreaded Sundown stars Addison Timlin, Veronica Cartwright, Gary Cole, Anthony Anderson, the late Edward Herrmann, Ed Lauter and Denis O'Hare. It's out in the UK on April 17. A book and exhibition of Humphreys' horror art are planned for later this year.
