Tomorrowland Super Bowl Spot Delivers More Footage

Maintaining director Brad Bird’s line of relative secrecy about the film is tough in an era where every movie seemingly needs to release as much as possible in the run up to the finished product’s arrival in cinemas. But with Tomorrowland, he’s trying to keep a balance of keeping some thing under wraps while giving the marketing team a chance to show off the goods. The new Super Bowl TV spot, then, arrives as a blend of the trailer and a few quick previously unseen glimpses at the movie.

The film follows Britt Robertson’s Casey Newton, a troubled young woman who is getting out of a police lock up. Included among the personal items returned to her is a mysterious pin she doesn’t recognise – one that appears able to transport her to the titular world. There’s more from the grizzled George Clooney, a mysterious man who knows more than anyone about Tomorrowland, a quick shot of Hugh Laurie as the villain and the notion that the titular world is a place where you can build anything you want. Is everything awesome there?

From the tiny peeks we get at Tomorrowland itself, this is certainly shaping up to be an adventurous, spectacular film, hopefully with a script – from Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jensen – to match. Tomorrowland arrives in the UK on May 22.
