Todd Phillips Finds Staycation Writers

With the box-office bonanza that was The Hangover behind him, Todd Phillips is a very popular man at Warners Bros., and the studio has hired two writers to develop his next project **Staycation **hoping for similar comic alchemy.

Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, who worked with Lawrence Kasdan to write Louis Leterrier's Clash Of The Titans remake, will turn Phillips' idea into a script. And what is the idea? The studio isn't saying but with a title like **Staycation **and Phillips' pedigree in male-orientated comedy, we're not expecting a gritty drama set in Bolivia.

Phillips is producing **Staycation **under his Warner Bros.-based Green Hat banner, but no word yet on whether he'll also direct.

The sleeper success of The Hangover means Phillips is hotter than hades right now and, suggests Variety, he's taking advantage of his new-found cachet to develop an Apatow-like stable of trusted comedy writers. He's certainly going to be busy with road trip comedy Due Date due to start filming in October, The Hangover 2 next cab off the rank in 2010, and Man-Witch, Say Uncle and Murray At Large also appearing somewhere on the Phillips slate.
