Yesterday brought the poster. Now the teaser trailer for Thor has arrived online and you can watch it below.
Thor finds the arrogant, headstrong Norse god (Chris Hemsworth) being banished from the mystical realm of Asgard by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) after he rekindles and ancient conflict.
Sent down to our mortal world, he’s forced to live among humans until he learns his lesson, and ends up falling for human scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). But Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Thor’s stepbrother – and jealous archrival – plots to use his sibling’s disappearance to launch an assault on Earth using the darkest forces of Asgard.
Can Thor save us all? Well, he’d better, or The Avengers won’t be much of a story…
If you saw the Comic-Con footage or the material that showed at our Movie-Con, chances are you’ve seen a lot of the trailer already, with Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson interrogating the hero about him taking down a team of SHIELD soldiers, various shots of Asgardian types and some footage of the villains, including the Frost Giants and the Destroyer.
It certainly makes the film look grand and stylish, though our concerns linger over the blend of the operatic Asgard scenes with the more realistic (well, at least until Loki gets up to his tricks) moments on Earth. Here’s hoping Kenneth Branagh has pulled it off.
