Thor And More Super Bowl Spots Online

Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday in America-land and, as usual, the studios took advantage of the boosted TV viewing figures to run ads for the big summer blockbusters. And thanks to the magic of the InterTubes, everyone around the world can see them. While we’ve put the likes of the Captain America spot and the one for** Super 8**** **in their own stories (because they’re A) exciting and B) the first time we’ve properly seen anything from the movies), the rest can be found in the mega compilation below.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow is naturally front and centre, but there’s room for some menace from Ian McShane’s Blackbeard, and a decent look at the film’s mermaids (as one of them is under threat). It’s a lot of what we’ve seen already, but then, did you expect them to give away any massive new surprises?

Release date: May 18

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Cars go bash! Buildings go smash! Things go kaboom! A lady! Shia LaBeouf! Optimus Prime being a robo-badass. So… Michael Bay doing his Michael Bay thing, then. Hopefully no Decepticles, this time.

Release date: July 1

Thor

We’ll refrain from making any hammer puns this time. The spot lays out the concept of Thor’s world and ours coming into conflict, but aside from some creature action, this one feels like we’ve seen it before.

Release date: April 29

Cowboys and Aliens

Jon Favreau released this one into the world via Twitter even before the game whistle had blown, and it’s a visual treat with a proper look at some of the extraterrestrial hardware flying around, Harrison Ford looking grouchy, Daniel Craig being tough and Olivia Wilde (tastefully) sans clothes. One for every demographic, eh, Jon?

Release date: August 12

Fast Five

**

**

Dwayne Johnson, looking to chase down Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and Paul Walkers Brian O’Connor, warns his team not to let them get into cars. Cue lots of vehicular mayhem, so that plan clearly didn’t work. Well, you wouldn’t want it called The Slow And The Tranquil, now would you?

Release date: April 29

Rio

**

**The Ice Age team warm up in the tropical climate for a tale of a nervy macaw (Jessie Eisenberg) who meets his perfect – and only remaining match – in Anne Hathaway’s confident lady bird. Could be fun, but all the trailers so far have gone very slapsticky.

Release date: April 8

Just Go With It

**

**

Adam Sandler’s latest aims squarely for the male American Football audience with a 10-referencing ad that, since the film itself is everywhere this week, ditches the plot for model Brooklyn Decker in a bikini. A good hook? Maybe. Funny? Er…

Release date: February 11

Battle: Los Angeles

Essentially a Greatest Hits from the previous trailers, which highlight the movie’s similarity to District 9-meets-Independence Day. Not that that's a bad thing.

Release date: March 11

Drive Angry

**

**

Nic Cage being vengeful. Amber Heard looking good. Cars. Fights. ‘Splosions. So recycled it should win an environmental award.

Release date: February 25

Rango

More reused footage from other trailers, but in this case, we still want to see the movie. Could be a laugh.

Release date: March 4

The Adjustment Bureau

**

**Matt Damon stumbles on something he should never have seen. No, not Kevin Smith in the shower – the Men Who Control The Destiny Of Us All. Lots of running in this one. And is it wrong that we giggle in the wrong way when Matt Damon grabs Emily Blunt and explains that, “We’re being chased.” Oh, you think? Still, we want to see this one.

Release date: March 4

**Limitless

**

**

**Bradley Cooper finds the wonder drug that makes him smart and better looking, but it drags him down into a world of corruption and terror. And the side effects are a killer. A stripped down version of the trailer that may cause feelings of déjà vu.

Release date: March 18

Priest

**

**

Paul Bettany as a warrior priest in an apocalyptic alterna-future trying to convince his bosses that the feral vampire horde has returned. Want to guess who’s right? We’re worried, since this is from the director of Legion, but we really want Paul Bettany to kick-ass in a good pseudo-religious action thriller…

Release date: May 13

Oh, and not forgetting Kung fu Panda 2**, which arrived online last week…
