Third Inception Trailer Now Online

For months now, Christopher Nolan’s Inception has been shrouded in the sort of secrecy of which the CIA might approve. But now, with the release of the movie’s third and final trailer, the cat is somewhat out of the bag. And the cat looks like it could be the movie event of the summer.

Here’s what we knew: that Leonardo DiCaprio played Cobb, head of a team of hi-tech thieves who steal ideas from targets while they’re asleep, creeping into highly complex and surreal dream worlds and making off with the nuggets of info.

And while the trailer largely adheres to that, we also get more hints about who Cobb is, and his background – a background that appears to involve Marion Cotillard as his wife, and a Tragic Incident somewhere in his past; something that has affected Cobb badly, with the final heist – in which our hero must implant an idea into someone’s head – holding the key to his longterm happiness.

That’s the soul candy taken care of – but the trailer also shows that Nolan is catering for the eyes too, with some astounding ambitious images here, from cities collapsing into the sea to people hovering in mid-air while asleep to gunfights at the sort of kooky angles not seen since the Batman TV series back in the 1960s. We also get to see and hear from some of Cobb’s team, including Ellen Page and, in a neat little comedic coda, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Oh, and we get a preview of Hans Zimmer's score, which sounds amazing...

The trailer first appeared in the movie’s online game, Mind Crime, and could be accessed only if you played the game and made it into a cinema in the virtual reality. But now it’s streaming for all the world to see, and we’re glad it is. For the movie of your dreams might just have become a reality.
