Sucker Punch For Emily Browning

Australian actress Emily Browning is moving up in the world - she's bagged the lead role in Zack Snyder's **Watchmen **follow-up, Sucker Punch.

Browning, last seen in middling horror film, The Uninvited, will take the role of a girl who constructs an alternate reality in an attempt to escape from a mental asylum.

It was the role that had been offered to **Mamma Mia! **star, Amanda Seyfried. No word on what happened with Seyfried, but her loss may well be Browning's gain.

The 20 year-old, who played young Violet in the ill-fated Lemony Snicket's An Unfortunate Series Of Events, now heads up a cast that is to hot young actresses what Stallone's The Expendables is to grizzled old action relics: Vanessa Hudgens, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood, and fellow Aussie Abbie Cornish have already signed on to a movie that Snyder describes as Alice in Wonderland with machine guns. We are so there.

Snyder, who co-wrote the original script with Steve Shibuya, will direct and produce the Warner Bros. film with his missus, Deborah Snyder. Filming is set to start in September.
