While Meryl Streep has yet to distance herself completely from her trademark serious roles she’s been enjoying a fair amount of box office success thanks to bubblegum movies such as Mamma Mia! And The Devil Wears Prada, so it comes as little surprise that she’s signed up to a new romantic comedy with seasoned frothy flick director Nancy Meyers.
Variety reports that the as-yet-untitled movie will star Streep as a woman caught up in a romantic triangle with two men. While this all sounds rather rote, the presence of the lovely Meryl and Meyers (seasoned veteran of such crowd-pleasers as The Holiday, Something’s Gotta Give and What Women Want) makes this an interesting proposal.
Streep is currently voicing a lead role in The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animation adaptation of the Roald Dahl novel, which also features the vocal talents of George Clooney, Cate Blanchett and Bill Murray.
