We love Colin Firth in these parts and hope to see him challenging for an Oscar again next year, this time for his terrific turn in the equally excellent The King's Speec****h. In the meantime, he's popping up in the London Film Festival's short film category with Steve, a quirky one-reeler directed by Rupert Friend.
The teaser trailer doesn't give a whole heap away about Steve, only that his taste in sweaters would make Tom Ford very angry indeed. What we do know is that Colin Firth's eccentric singleton, who seems to have more than a touch of the Mr. Beans about him, is an increasingly regular visitor to his upstairs neighbours, Keira Knightley and Tom Mison.
As the short's economical synopsis has it: "Steve is a story about a man who came to tea..."
**Steve **screens at the London Film Festival on October 21.
