Thank god for self-help books, without which we would all be roaming the streets, naked, shivering and holding endless ineffectual meetings. Or so you'd think, judging by the mahoosive quantities that get sold. Hollywood hasn't been slow to tap into this trend either: next up in self-improvement cinema is Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man, an adaptation of a New York Times bestseller that delves into the male psyche.

Written by comedian Steve Harvey, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man promises to lay bare male thought processes and demystify men's "seemingly complex but surprisingly simple emotional needs". Like Sky Plus and curry.

Harvey's book, which comes with a large Stateside readership and full Oprah approval, has been picked up by Screen Gems. Will Packer (Obsessed) will produce and canvass writers to craft all this handy advice into a script.

No word yet on whether it'll be a romantic-comedy a la He's Not That Into You or What Women Want, but it's a safe bet it won't be a gritty urban drama.
