Drillbit Taylor director Steve Brill has sold an untitled comedy pitch to 20th Century Fox, which he's set to direct. And just like yesterday's Rita Wilson script, it's about parents proving an embarrassment to their children.
The as-yet untitled film sees a wealthy couple lose all their money in a Wall Street Ponzi scheme, wherein investors are paid back from their own money (and that of later investors) rather than from any profits from an investment scheme. The pair have to move in with their loser son, with (one hopes) hilarious consequences.
Brill's also attached to rewrite and direct Last Semester, about a Harvard student couple who decide to break up and date other people for their last term at college so they can have the "college experience". Richard Amberg wrote the first draft of that one.
There are no stars attached to either project yet, but given that Brill's worked with Owen Wilson and Adam Sandler on some of his recent films, this could end up being another big-name project. Or it could end up like Brill's Without A Paddle.
