There has been much chatter, speculation and downright demand to know when the new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens might actually be arriving, given that the movie itself is now less than two months away. The wait will shortly be over, and to celebrate, a new, full poster is online.
The poster finally gives most of the main characters a chance to appear (though Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker is notable by his absence), with the focus on Daisy Ridley’s Rey, John Boyega’s Finn and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Gwendoline Christie all pictured.
As for the trailer? That is now scheduled to go live during an edition of Monday Night Football on US channel ESPN, which means it’ll be out very early Tuesday morning for the UK – we’d expect an online version to hit almost as soon as the trailer finishes airing. And the movie will be out here on December 17, a day ahead of the US release of December 18. Let the trailer breaking down commence! Will J.J. Abrams finally show some other new elements? Or has he managed to convince the marketing bods to keep things largely locked down still? We’re reaching the point when more general trailers start to appear, to sell the movie outside of its core fan base, but Star Wars is something of a pop cultural behemoth that doesn’t need quite as much of an awareness boost of other films. On that note, tickets will be on sale tomorrow right here. To tide you over, here's the most recent trailer.
