It had already been revealed that **Star Wars: Episode VII **would screen in IMAX cinemas, but until today it had not been officially announced that parts of the film would be shot in IMAX as well, with the following tweet from @BadRobot making it very clear indeed.

This announcement follows on from a similar trick pulled by director J.J. Abrams for Star Trek Into Darkness, which also boasted a decent chunk of extra-largesse - 50 minutes' worth - in among the not-quite-as-big stuff.

This means that we'll be seeing plenty of film for Star Wars: Episode VII, with the 35mm it has proudly boasted about before now being complemented by 70mm to boot - and for some stunning desert-set sequences, from the looks of things.

Other recent Star Wars news has seen two new actors being cast, which you can find out more about here, and if you feel like getting extra-excited about the new journey to a galaxy far, far away, here's our 30 Greatest Star Wars Characters feature.

Starring veterans Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Daniels, Mayhew as well as **Wars **newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: Episode VII will be out on December 18, 2015.
