Star Wars: Episode VII Is Officially Titled The Force Awakens

But what does it mean?

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

It is a day that will be long remembered; it has seen some advert with a penguin in it, and now it sees the official title for Star Wars: Episode VII announced as The Force Awakens. And it appears that it might have dropped the Episode VII from the title.

What does it all mean? Well, that obviously remains to be seen, but here's a thought based purely on movie dialogue and not the Extended Universe. Anakin was meant to "bring balance" to the Force - which judging by history means a situation where there are two Sith - "always two, a master and an apprentice" - and oodles of Jedi. At the end of Return Of The Jedi, there's one Jedi (that we know of; Star Wars: Rebels may reveal that others have survived) and in theory no more Sith. Perhaps the Force is waking up and trying to correct that balance, 30 years on? Or something? Inexplicably, J.J. doesn't appear to have used our** **Episode VII Title Generator, but you can still try to come up with your own favourite if you want.

In any case, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is still being directed by J.J. Abrams, from a script that he wrote with Lawrence Kasdan, and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Warwick Davis and Max Von Sydow.[[Poll1148]]
