It’s not every day that the star and director of one of the biggest film of awards season sit down for more than half an hour to talk about their films and answer questions from an invited audience and viewers watching online. But that’s what Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis did this week for Lincoln, and you can see the results above.

The pair talks about all sorts of aspects of making the film, including Day-Lewis’ worries about taking the role in the first place and Spielberg admitting that he’s most attracted to the work that scares him.

Also covered? The parallels between the political landscape and democracy of Lincoln’s time and that of modern-day America, getting the depth of the details right and shooting the movie almost like a low-budget independent film.

It’s well worth watching, and if you’ve got 42 minutes to spare, put your feet up, grab a brew and a biscuit and enjoy.

The sprawling Lincoln cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Jackie Earle Haley, Sally Field, Jared Harris, John Hawkes, Lee Pace, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, Bruce McGill and David Oyelowo. It arrives on January 25. Watch the latest trailer below.
