Odette Yustman and Amber Heard, two contenders for the crown of cinema’s current Scream Queen, will both be testing their lung capacity after signing on to star in And Soon The Darkness.

A remake of the little-known British thriller, made in 1970, the movie will see Yustman – who aiiiiiieeeeed for her life in Cloverfield and The Unborn – and Heard, who was the reason that All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (although, to be fair, she didn’t do a lot of screaming in that one), play two friends on a cycling holiday in Argentina.*

When one of them disappears, the other must find her before darkness falls, at which point it can safely be assumed that she’s mincemeat. Or, in this case, corned beef.

Could be good, could be another unnecessary entry in the torture porn stakes. But Yustman and Heard are two very appealing actresses, so this is worth keeping an eye on. Heard, in particular, is stepping up with this movie – she’s co-producing. Which probably means that she’ll be the one that doesn’t get horribly killed.

Commercials director Marcos Efron will be taking a break from flogging us things to make his feature debut with this. Filming will take place in Argentina.

Fact: Michele Dotrice – Betty in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em – starred in the original. She was the one that disappeared - we reckon Frank did it.
