Sigourney Weaver Loves Avatar

Sigourney Weaver has been speaking this week about life on the set of James Cameron’s ridiculously anticipated Avatar, his huge, groundbreaking sci-fi thriller due out in the summer of 2009. And it sounds like it is all going blissfully well at the moment.

“It’s a fantastic movie. So ambitious. So romantic and sweeping”, says Weaver. “I can’t wait to get back”.

Hang on, this a James Cameron movie we’re talking about, right? Apparently so. Sigourney is also very happy to be working with her co-star, Australian actor Sam Worthington.

“He’s a terrific actor, he really is. And a lovely guy. I think he’s going to do a wonderful job. His humour and charm and just genuineness as a person are very evident as soon as you start working with him”.

Worthington plays a disabled war veteran who is sent to investigate another planet with Weaver playing his botanist mentor, Grace. But much beyond that, Sigourney is keeping quiet for the time being.

“I’m not allowed to give too much away, but we have parallel adventures. There’s a younger person’s story and a smaller, older person’s story all happening at the same time. All my scenes are with [Worthington]. It’s really a lovely relationship”.

Cameron has already confirmed that the flick, which will apparently feature a entire alien cuelture, is being shot in 3-D and will combine live-action and computer-generated characters and environments.
