Adam Shankman, director of Hairspray and the upcoming Bedtime Stories, has lined up two very interesting projects to work on while he's waiting for the music to be written for Hairspray 2. He's signed on for high seas adventure in Sinbad, and to direct the original story of Bob The Musical.
Sinbad, first of all, will see the legendary adventurer and his crew marooned off the coast of China, where they set off to find Aladdin's lamp. Shankman told Variety that the film will give him the chance to "stretch my imagination as far as I can take it", so let's hope that's a decent distance.
Bob the Musical, meanwhile (not to be confused with Bob the Builder), follows a mild-mannered man who is struck on the head and starts to hear the "inner song of people's hearts". The music for that one was written by Hairspray's Marc Shaiman, so Shankman would be on familiar territory.
There's no word yet on what order these will come, assuming that Shankman manages to do both as well as the previously announced Hairspray sequel, but we'll tell you more as we hear it.
