The most recent trailer for Martin McDonagh’s new comedy drama **Seven Psychopaths definitely made it look like a fun watch. But what it couldn’t do – since it was aimed at everyone – was spotlight the trademark swearing that was such a key feature of McDonagh’s last Colin Farrell collaboration,** In Bruges**. To the rescue comes the red band trailer, which allows free reign. So be warned: the expletives fly like dog hair on to a freshly vacuumed carpet.
Seven Psychopaths finds Farrell as frustrated screenwriter Marty. Stuck on his latest script, he finds some inspiration hanging out with dodgy pals Billy (Sam Rockwell) and Hans (Christopher Walken), who have an intriguing scheme they think will make them rich: kidnap dogs and then “find” them, with grateful owners shelling out reward cash.
Unfortunately the pair has just napped the prized pooch belonging to Charlie (Woody Harrelson), a violent, unpredictable gangster. Soon all sorts of trouble is landing on our trio’s heads – and that’s just one of their problems.
With Abbie Cornish, Olga Kurylenko, Tom Waits and Gabourey Sidibe also among the cast, Seven Psychopaths will see the inside of a f****n’ cinema on December 7. For more casual Farrell swearing, we recommend our recent Total Recall interview here.
