The first trailer for what promises to be Netflix’s most ambitious – and potentially risky – series yet, Sense8 has now gone online. Take a look at the initial footage glimpse from the globetrotting series below.
Co-created by Lana and Andy Wachowski and Babylon 5’s J. Michael Straczynski, the series tracks eight distant souls who inexplicably become psychologically connected. We’re introduced to Icelandic DJ Riley (Tuppence Middleton), Chicago cop Will (Brian J. Smith), Mumbai pharmacist Kala (Tena Desae), San Francisco blogger Nomi (Jamie Clayton), Nairobi bus driver Capheus (Aml Ameen), Berlin safe-cracker Wolfgang (Max Riemelt), Mexican actor Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre) and Seoul businesswoman Sun (Doona Bae), who suddenly become aware of each other, and learn that they can share knowledge and skills.
And they’ll need to, because there are some very dangerous people hunting them down. Fortunately, they do have a little outside help to comprehend what is going on, in the shape of Jonas (Naveen Andrews).
The looser restrictions of Netflix means the creative trio can make this a more realistic look at the world. The streaming service even opened up its wallet to allow for travel to the various locales seen in the series. We’ve got high hopes for what is planned as a ten-hour movie, which drops all at once on June 5. Although if Straczynski doesn't find a way to sneak in something or someone going straight to, or from, hell, the B5 fans among us will be very disappointed.
