Tut, tut Disney folk… Don’t you know you’re going about this one backwards? The traditional schedule goes still from the film, poster for the movie, then trailer? Still, looking to pull off something tough is a theme that resonates in the new drama** Saving Mr. Banks**, so we suppose it makes sense. The one-sheet for the Tom Hanks/Emma Thompson film is below.

Saving Mr. Banks finds Hanks playing Walt Disney at the height of his powers. With a thriving film company and entire theme parks dedicated to his ideas, he was unaccustomed to people turning down his approaches when he offered to adapt their source material for the screen.

But that’s exactly what happened when he pitched the idea of making P.L. Travers’ (here played by Thompson) beloved children’s’ tome Mary Poppins into a movie. Through years of professional courtship he tried to win her over on the concept, only to meet with steely refusals. So he stepped up the charm offensive, bringing Travers to California to make his case, only to discover that he really didn’t understand what the book was about. Still, as we all know, he went ahead with the movie…

John Lee Hancock directed this one, and the cast also includes Ruth Wilson, Colin Farrell, Rachel Griffiths, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford, Victoria Summer and B.J. Novak. It’ll be out on January 17.
