Sandra Bullock, the very embodiment of all that is lovely and right with the world and a good example to all of Hollywood of how to be both successful and delightful, has been making some interesting career choices of late. She was more than solid in her teeny weeny role in Crash and in a different year her turn as Harper Lee in Infamous would have been Oscar-nominatable (it's almost a word). But her home turf will always be the world of boozy, sarcastic best friends and guys who were always there for you as a friend and who one day, when it's raining, you suddenly realise that, oh my god, you totally love and did all along and you were really stupid to waste your affections on that guy in the sharp suit who twirled you around at that benefit but never cared about the real clutzy you.

Which is an incredibly long-winded way of saying she'll star in The Proposal, in which she'll play a demanding female boss, threatened with deportation who, naturally, marries her young male assistant to stay in the country. The script is written by Peter Chiarelli, of whom we can find no record on The IMDb. Unless he's the guy who played himself twice on sports talkshow, Off The Record. Which would be weird.
