Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career could use a bit of a kick up the box office. In the years since he handed in his special key and finished up his job as Governator of California, he hasn’t exactly enjoyed the roaring success of old. Could David Ayer’s Sabotage be the juice his floundering star wattage needs? Take a look at the first trailer.
Sabotage, which at different points in its life has been called Ten and Breacher (after Arnie’s commander character), finds the Austrian Oak in charge of an elite DEA unit that raids drug cartels and brings some very nasty criminals to justice.
But on their latest bust, something odd happens: $10m in drug money goes missing, and someone starts killing off the squad members. Soon investigator Caroline Brentwood (Olivia Williams, getting the chance to be a badass for once) is poking around the case, looking for whoever nicked the cash and trying to stop other members being offed.
With a cast that also includes Sam Worthington, Joe Manganiello, Max Martini, Terrence Howard, Harold Perrineau and Mireille Enos, Sabotage appears to promise the grittier male (and in this case, female) bonding themes of** End Of Watch** layered on top of an action plot that wouldn’t be out of place on Arnie’s ‘80s CV. It’ll hit our screens on April 25.
