Looks like Tony Stark might be back after all

Robert Downey Jr. Says He's In Talks For More Iron Man

Well, that didn’t last long. You might recall that, just last month at the Toronto Film Festival, Robert Downey Jr. said that no future solo Iron Man movies were in the works. People should’ve checked to see if his nose grew Pinocchio-style as he said it, because he appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime talk show on Tuesday and said that he’s in negotiations for more.

Honestly, that isn’t entirely shocking, since the Tony Stark films have been Marvel’s highest-grossing single Avenger efforts, particularly last year’s billion-dollar baby, I****ron Man 3. And yes, strictly speaking, the leading man being in negotiations to return doesn't mean that the film itself is a done deal, and Marvel has yet to announce anything official. So for all we know, this is the actor trying to move deal-making along.

Downey Jr. was, of course, already signed up for Avengers: Age Of Ultron and the third team-up film, but had always demurred when asked about more solo outings. Marvel already pays him a healthy share of the profits from the films, so the negotiations are likely taking a while, but we would not be surprised if, around the time of Ultron, all involved announce that RDJ will indeed be back for more.

Downey is returning to screens in a non-Marvel capacity for The Judge, which lands here on October 17. Age Of Ultro****n will be with us on April 24 next year.
