Blue Sky’s 2011 comedy Rio may not have been a hit on the level of, say, the** Ice Age** franchise, but it was easily enough of a success to generate a sequel, which is flying into cinemas next year. Now the first full trailer for Rio 2 is online.
brightcove.createExperiences();**Rio 2 **finds Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and Jewel (Anne Hathaway) settled into domestic life with three kids and their friends around them in Rio. But when they learn of more blue macaws living in the Amazon, they decide – against Blu’s nervy better judgement – to travel there. So much for the first film's last-of-their-kind thing.
Joined by friends such as Nico (Jamie Foxx), Pedro (Will I Am) and Luiz (Tracey Morgan), they make the journey, leading to the discovery of Jewel’s family, including her gruff father Eduardo (Andy Garcia). Suddenly Blu’s life feels more Focker than flocker as he meets his intimidating father-in-law for the first time. And though the feathered family has enough to do coping with their new situation, their old rival Nigel (Jemaine Clement) is also present, plotting some new nefarious scheme.
With Carlos Saldanha back on writer-director duties,** Rio 2** will land here on April 4 next year.
