It turns out that Hollywood is an equal-opportunities sort of place. No longer do you have to be 20-something and male to get to blow things up, pepper cars with bullets or wield a crossbow. As Red premiered last night in London, we learned that older folk and even ladies get to lay the smackdown with the best of 'em.
The film, based on the graphic novel by the extravagantly bearded Warren Ellis (who was also in attendance last night), follows a group of retired CIA agents who get back together when their former employers try to bump them off. Honestly, when will movie characters learn never to attack the retired assassins? It stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and Mary Louise Parker, who were in attendance last night, as well as John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman and Karl Urban, who sadly weren't.
Red is out this Friday.
