After weathering both MGM’s financial issues and some judicious editing to switch the primary enemy from China to North Korea (or face sitting on the shelf forever), the remake of ‘80s Cold War favourite Red Dawn is finally on the march towards American cinemas. The first trailer has already been releasedand now a clip from the movie is online courtesy of AICN. Check it out above.
In this Dawn, a suburban small town in Washington State awakens one morning to the perplexing, terrifying sight of North Korean and other Asian troops parachuting in from planes flying overhead. For some reason, all of the gadgets we rely on – and could potentially use to fight back – have stopped working.
Soon, the town is occupied and small resistance groups are formed to fight back. One such band of rebels, inspired by their high school mascot, is called the Wolverines and they’re sworn to protect each other, take back the town and win their freedom.
With the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Peck, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Connor Cruise in the cast, Red Dawn will arrive in US cinemas on November 21. There’s no sign of a UK release date, or even a distributor, just yet.
