Given that Dodgeball director Rawson Thurber’s new comedy We’re The Millers features drug dealing (sorry, smuggling), swearing, references to sex acts and Will Poulter getting bitten by a spider in a most uncomfortable place (not the back of a Volkswagen), it seems only fair that its latest trailer should be of the NSFW red band variety. Consider yourselves duly warn-i-fied.
We’re The Millers finds Jason Sudeikis as David Clark, a veteran pot dealer looking to make a big score to get out of the business. When sleazy Brad Gurdlinger (Ed Helms) coerces him into smuggling a huge amount of weed across the border from Mexico, our – let’s not call him a hero, per se; maybe protagonist – decides that the best way to do it would be to create a fake family.
So he recruits stripper Rose (Jennifer Aniston), shy virginal weirdo Kenny (Poulter) and snark-tastic runaway Casey (Emma Roberts) to pose as the perfect familial unit. Naturally, very little goes to plan.
With a cast that also includes Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Molly Quinn and Thomas Lennon, this looks like it could be more stuffed with chuckles than the “Millers”’ RV is with illegal substances. A few of the jokes here are a tad familiar, but pretty much everything Poulter does is comedy gold. Let’s just say we’re hopeful. We're The Millers arrives on August 23.
