The buddy cop comedy genre has already spawned one success this year, with Ride-Along even generating a planned sequel. Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. will be hoping for similar results with Let's Be Cops, which has a new trailer online. Be advised that this one was slapped with a Red Band rating, and contains drug use, swearing, violence and terrible dancing.

As opposed to mismatched buddies, Johnson and Wayans Jr. play good pals Ryan and Justin who are trying to find a little direction in life. They mistakenly turn up to a masquerade party dressed in cop costumes and everyone ridicules them. But when they get mistaken for real police officers, they decide to exploit the idea, scoring free drugs, booze and attention from the ladies.

Of course, things end up going a little bit too far, by which we mean they get mixed up in a very dangerous real case. Remember kids: impersonating a police officer is not only against the law; it has the potential to get you killed. The one weird element of the trailer is that we can't stop thinking of the leading pair as their characters from New Girl, which makes us wonder where Schmidt has gone.

Nick Greenfield co-wrote and directed the comedy, which also features Rob Riggle, Nina Dobrev, James D'Arcy, Andy Garcia and Keegan-Michael Key. It'll be out here on September 12.
