The big lesson of Aftershock, besides the obvious one about not hanging around when an earthquake cracks open a local Chilean prison letting crazy killer psychos out, is that partying with Eli Roth is a really, really dangerous idea. Check out the blood-soaked, gore-happy new Red Band trailer.
A recent Empire Pod-guest (check out our interview with the man at the bottom of the page), Roth is co-writer, producer and star in this one, directed by Chile’s Nicolas Lopez.
It starts out feeling much like any other boys’ night out film as Roth’s Gringo and his chums hit the bars, hoping to party with some beautiful women. But in the midst of grooving to the music (that’s what the young folk do these days, right? Groove? Or do they trance it up, Brony-style?), the earth moves in a way they really weren’t expecting, destroying the bar and rupturing the aforementioned prison. Before long, violent criminals are on the street and no one is safe.
With Andrea Osvart, Ariel Levy, Nicolas Martinez, Lorenza Izzo, Matias Lopez, Edgardo Bruna and Dayana Amigo amongst the cast, Aftershock should be out later this year.
