Paul W.S. Anderson, back in Empire’s good books after the slice of Stath-filled awesomeness that was Death Race (and yes, we know we gave it three stars, but come on… vroom bang screech; what’s not to love?), will produce the crime thriller, Outsourced.
Based on a forthcoming novel called** 28 Minutes**, written by Dave Zeltserman, Outsourced will tell the story of some software engineers who incur the wrath of Boston and Russian mobsters when they plan a bank robbery.
Sounds like it could well end up as a potential directing vehicle for Anderson, who’s currently developing a remake of The Long Good Friday, which will also feature Russian crims up to no good. For the time being, though, he’s only on board as producer, along with his Impact Pictures partner, Jeremy Bolt.
"The book is very real and original with believable contemporary characters," Bolt told The Hollywood Reporter. "We want to make an intelligent heist movie that people can relate to."
Will this be that movie? Only time, and Travis Milloy’s script, will tell. Milloy also wrote Pandorum, the forthcoming sci-fi flick that Anderson and Bolt produced. Hopefully his script will make it clear why the title of the novel, which is a good, tight title for a thriller, has been changed to something so generic.
Constantin Film is funding Outsourced, with the company’s Robert Kulzer also producing.
