One of these days, people will learn that buying dodgy boxes from estate sales and car boot events never leads to good things. In some cases, it leaves you with a collection of moldy fuzzy felt. In others, such as the real-life case that **The Possession **is purportedly based on, you get the screaming and the stabbing and the blood everywhere. Take a look at the trailer below.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick star as Clyde and Stephenie Brenek, a couple in the middle of a divorce. When Clyde takes Em (Natasha Calis) and Hannah (Madison Davenport) out rummaging through garage sales so he can find cheap things for his new apartment, Em comes across a weird old box that appears to have no seams. Instead of warning her away from the freaky item (because they always lead to trouble), the doting dad lets her buy it. Mistaaaaaaake!

Soon, poor Em is seemingly possessed by what her parents discover is a Dybbuk, a malicious ancient spirit that enjoys taking people over and causing havoc. When medical science can’t seem to help, they turn to religion. But could it be too late? And why doesn’t Morgan simply call his sons, the Winchester boys, in to help? Oh, right… This isn’t Supernatural. But it would be awesome if they’d been around to help.

With Sam Raimi pulling the producer puppet strings on this one and **Just Another Love Story **/ **Deliver Us From Evil **director Ole Bornedal calling the shots, The Possession will be out of the box on August 31.
