Kevin James’s mall cop character Paul Blart is back! Saying by popular demand might raise a few eyebrows, but with $179 million worldwide, there’s clearly an audience for James’s pratfall charm. The sequel – now simply called Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 – has a trailer, which you can watch below.
After saving the day in his local shopping facility, Blart has travelled to Las Vegas (apparently by Segway, which seems like a highly inefficient method) to attend the annual Security Guard Expo. Though honestly, the trailer makes it look like he’s working security at one of the casinos, which is a little confusing.
Still, bad guys are plotting a crafty heist to go up against the best security system in the world. When Blart discovers what they’re up, naturally he springs into action. Well, Segways into action. What we’re saying is he really likes the machines. And, because if it was okay to spoof Die Hard for the first movie.... why not do it again, but on a bigger canvas with an expanded cast?
Featuring Raini Rodriguez, Eduardo Verástegui, Daniella Alonso, Neal McDonough and David Henrie in the ensemble, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 is headed our way on April 17.
